Project objective:
To provide Latvian researchers with secure, modern, and convenient access to and sharing of well-managed research data; access to data processing tools and digital research services; to ensure Latvia’s integration into the European Research Area; to promote interdisciplinary and international collaboration; to leverage the potential of big data and artificial intelligence by establishing and implementing a national EOSC node and shared services for data use.
Main project activities:
- Development, implementation, and operation of the EOSC national node governance and interoperability platform, including connection to the EU EOSC node and solutions compliant with federation rules;
- Development, implementation, and operation of the EOSC national node network solution, including adaptation, renovation, and reconstruction of premises for installation of network equipment and hardware;
- Development, implementation, and operation of management and security services, authentication and authorization infrastructure, and cybersecurity compliance and services;
- Development, implementation, and operation of FAIR-based digital research data services (including platforms for sharing and publishing data and related digital resources and tools, repositories, secure data processing environments, data processing tools and software, data-driven research management services, and secure storage and computing resources);
- Development, implementation, and operation of service management, discovery, and collaboration environments (user and administrator environments);
- Establishment of a system for maintenance, governance, development, and support of the EOSC national node, including monitoring, support services, governance and development functions, and cooperation procedures among research organizations;
- Capacity building for personnel involved in implementation, development, and management, including training and awareness activities;
- Project management and implementation;
- Communication and visual identity measures.
National indicators to be achieved:
- One secure national research and academic data transmission network established by 1 April 2026;
- At least 26 institutional users connected to the network by 30 October 2026;
- At least 3 fully functional governance and security services available by 31 March 2029;
- At least 5 fully functional data usage services available by 31 March 2029;
- One fully operational EOSC national node (including network, security, data services, management, discovery, and secure storage/processing environment) established by 30 November 2029;
- At least 26 institutional users of the node and its services by 30 November 2029.
Project implementation:
The project is implemented by the association Higher Education and Science Information Technology Shared Service Centre in cooperation with the universities: University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, Riga Stradiņš University, and Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies.
