About LAIFE

LAIFE ensures a unified, secure, and standards-compliant exchange of user information.

Identity Provider

The identity provider verifies the user’s affiliation with an institution and ensures secure authentication. This allows users to access LAIFE-connected services using their existing institutional account, without having to create new passwords.

Service Provider

Service providers can confidently offer their digital resources to a broader research and education community. By applying the principles of LAIFE and eduGAIN, access is simplified, reducing the need to manage individual accounts and the associated administrative burden.

Single Sign-On

Single sign-on allows users to access various services using a single trusted digital identity. This makes access more convenient, secure, and user-friendly—especially in collaboration between educational and research institutions.

How do I become a member?

Application

An institution applies for participation by submitting an official request.

Evaluation

The LAIFE Board reviews the application and sends the service agreement.

Participation

Upon signing the agreement and the application, the institution becomes a full-fledged member.

To become a LAIFE member, an institution must apply for membership at.
The application is evaluated and reviewed by the LAIFE Board, and if approved, a service agreement will be sent to you.

By signing the service agreement and the eduroam and/or eduGAIN service application, the institution becomes a LAIFE member.

Cancellation of Participation

A LAIFE member may cancel their LAIFE membership at any time by sending a written request to the LAIFE operations team.

A member who fails to comply with the policy may have their membership revoked (subject to approval by the LAIFE Board). The LAIFE Operations Team MAY issue an official statement to a member if they have violated the policy. If the violation is not remedied, the LAIFE Operations Group will notify the LAIFE Board, which may issue an official notice regarding the impending revocation of membership, setting a deadline for remedying the violation, after which the LAIFE Board may approve the suspension of the member’s membership.
