On December 17, an informational meeting organized by the Ministry of Education and Science (IZM) and the Higher Education and Science Information Technology Shared Services Center (VPC) took place in the “Moon” hall of the RTU Science and Innovation Center. The event brought together representatives from the higher education and science sectors.
During the meeting, participants received in-depth information on the planned changes to the National Research Information System (NZDIS), as well as on the introduction of the Research Information Management System (PIVS, based on Elsevier’s PURE solution) in Latvia. This included an overview of the development plans for national and shared instances and the possibilities for institutional implementation. Representatives of Elsevier presented the functionality of the PURE system and its practical benefits for research data management.
The event also addressed Project 1.1.1.6, “Digitalisation of Scientific Activity and Participation in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).” Participants gained insight into the development directions of EOSC in Europe. A representative of SURF from the Netherlands shared practical experience, and the plans for implementing EOSC in Latvia were presented.
VPC plans to continue organizing informational days on a regular basis, involving foreign experts to support the exchange of experience and international best practices.
The meeting was attended by more than 70 participants and concluded with a question-and-answer session, fostering discussion and the exchange of experience.
