On 11 May of this year, an informational event for the project Digitalisation of the Study Process (No. 4.2.2.11\/1\/25\/I\/001) was held at R\u012bga Stradi\u0146\u0161 University (RSU) and online, attended by approximately 100 participants both in person and remotely.<\/p>\n

The project’s goal<\/strong> is to implement digital solutions \u2014 including shared-use solutions \u2014 for modernizing study management systems and processes, ensuring a student-centered and flexible study experience, and enhancing the competitiveness of Latvian higher education institutions.<\/p>\n

The project is being implemented through seven work packages covering both digital competency development and the creation of specific technical and digitalized solutions:
\nWP1 Competency Development<\/strong> (lead partner: RSU) \u2014 focuses on developing digital transformation competencies among study process administrative staff through experience exchange visits, training sessions, and seminars, also open to representatives of other HEIs.
\nWP2 Personal<\/strong> Data Management in Student Research<\/strong> (RSU, LU, LBTU) \u2014 a digital platform for managing informed consent of research participants in compliance with GDPR requirements will be introduced; process analysis and technical specification development are currently underway.
\nWP3 Study Process Evaluation System<\/strong> (lead partner: RSU) \u2014 a unified platform for student, graduate, and employer surveys at both national and institutional levels will be created. A seminar for all interested parties will be held at RSU on 28 May.
\nWP4 Student Internship Management<\/strong> (lead partner: RSU) \u2014 the full internship management process will be digitalised, covering internship search, contract preparation, and assessment. A knowledge transfer workshop on Finnish higher education experience in internship management will take place on 27 May.
\nWP5 Digital Resource and Library Management<\/strong> (lead partner: LU) \u2014 a unified library system with AI-supported information retrieval and full-cycle digital resource management will be introduced. Procurement is planned for June 2026.
\nWP6 Core SIS Functionality<\/strong> (lead partner: LU) \u2014 a study information system (SIS) solution will be selected or developed to ensure integration with the Association’s shared-use systems and VIIS. The solution under consideration involves the open-source platform OpenCampus (based on Drupal 11).
\nWP7 Shared Registries<\/strong> \u2014 centralized registries for diplomas, courses, study programs, and student personal files will be established, enabling data exchange on a one-stop-shop principle.<\/p>\n

During the event, participants were also informed about the project’s objectives, the content of each work package, and opportunities for higher education institutions to take part in project activities such as seminars, workshops, and knowledge transfer events during experience exchange visits.<\/p>\n

The event was organized by the project implementer, the Higher Education and Science Information Technology Shared Service Centre, in collaboration with research universities: the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, R\u012bga Stradi\u0146\u0161 University, and the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies.<\/p>\n<\/div>
