About the project<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Latvia's higher education system is undergoing a significant digital transformation, and this project is one of the key steps toward making studies more accessible, transparent, and future-ready. VPC, together with the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, Riga\u00a0Stradi\u0146\u0161\u00a0University, and the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies, is developing a new generation of tools that support the everyday processes behind university studies. The goal is to create a more student-centered and flexible study environment while reducing administrative burden and strengthening the competitiveness of Latvian higher education.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What we aim to achieve<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project focuses on building shared digital solutions that will be available for all participating universities. By creating these tools centrally, we can ensure that institutions no longer need to develop separate systems on their own, making the study process more consistent and easier to navigate for students and staff. Our aim is to support universities in working smarter and more efficiently and to create a smoother digital experience for everyone engaged in higher education.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What we are creating<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A key part of the project is the development of a shared Study Management System that will bring together essential components of the academic process. This includes a unified catalogue of study programs and courses, integration with the national register of education documents, and a secure electronic student file that will make academic information easier to access and manage.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To support universities even further, we are building new tools that simplify many parts of the study process. These include an integrated digital resource and library management system that makes information easier to find and use, as well as a national internship platform where students will be able to search for opportunities,\u00a0submit\u00a0applications, and follow their progress in a single place. We are also creating a modern study evaluation system that helps institutions gather meaningful feedback, along with a transparent\u00a0consent-management system that explains how personal data is used in student research.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the project will develop the technical connections needed to exchange data smoothly with major national and European platforms. This includes integration with the State Education Information System, national data distribution and management platforms, and the EU Single Digital Gateway, ensuring that information flows securely and efficiently across systems.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To help universities introduce these tools successfully, the project includes close coordination between partners, shared planning, and ongoing advisory support. This ensures that all institutions can take advantage of the\u00a0new solutions\u00a0and implement them in a way that fits their own processes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A significant part of the project is dedicated to developing the digital skills of academic and administrative staff. Training will be offered to study program leaders, digitalization coordinators, and other specialists involved in managing study processes. These activities will focus on the practical skills needed to build,\u00a0maintain, and evaluate modern, digitally supported study environments. Opportunities to learn from international examples will also be included.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Expected impact<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By the end of the project, Latvian higher education institutions will share a solid, modern digital foundation for managing the study process. This will make administrative work more efficient, improve access to information, and support more\u00a0student-friendly\u00a0study pathways. The solutions developed within the project will help universities collaborate more effectively and will strengthen the overall quality and international visibility of Latvian higher education.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
